    Visual Disability/Orientation & Mobility

    Orientation & Mobility Training Unit:
Orientation and Mobility (O&M) helps people who are blind or have low vision move around safely and independently. It teaches skills like understanding space, finding your way, and using tools like white canes or smart canes.

    Benefit from O&M Training:
Children, adults, and older people with vision loss can all benefit from O&M training. It also helps people with other disabilities that affect how they move. Whether someone is newly blind or has had vision loss for years, O&M can help them become more independent.

    Training can include:
Indoor Orientation: Learning to move around in homes, schools, and offices.

Outdoor Mobility: Learning to walk safely outside, cross streets, and use buses or trains.

Assistive Device Training: Learning to use different assistive tools.

Sensory Development: Using hearing and touch to understand the surroundings.

Community-Based Activities: Practicing real-world travel like going to shops, restaurants, and public places.

We also raise awareness among the public to better understand visual impairment.
